Tips for Avoiding Winter Injuries By Chiropractors

Chiropractic doctors warn us that winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, and sledding can result in serious injuries, especially if an individual fails to perform correct warm-up exercises. The likelihood of strains occurring is higher in cold conditions because the flexibility of muscles decreases when they are cold.

Furthermore, muscles in your arms and legs are less responsive during cold temperatures. Also, limbs that aren't as responsive are less prepared to react to sudden circumstances. One must take chiropractic care to get their bodies ready for cold-weather sports.

Sledding, for instance, can cause back pain as the spine is compressed by the slushy snow and ice. To avoid back pain, you must open the space between the vertebrae by lying back and lifting your knees towards your chest.

When you are in standing sports, such as skiing, snowboarding, and skating the legs help support the body. If they're not properly warm, injuries can happen. Lunges are an excellent way to get your legs ready for winter sports.

If you are feeling achy after playing winter sporting activities, chiropractic treatments may be the answer. Chiropractic practitioners treat subluxations in the spine (i.e. compressions).

With subluxations free, the body is able to heal itself since the nervous system functions better when the channels in the spine are free of obstruction. As a result, chiropractors can offer post-sports injuries treatment.
